DOUBLE VISION 2021

Photography Club Members:

 

First,  I am excited to announce that Lifestyles has accepted our request for a Double Vision Show in 2021.  Approved dates include the following:

Thursday Nov. 4, 2021, 6-10pm for take-in an setup

Friday - Sunday Noon, Nov. 5-7, 2021 - The Open Show dates

Sunday Nov. 7, 2021, Noon to 3:30pm - Awards and Take-Down

 

Please mark your calendars for these dates. As always we will need your participation and volunteering to help put this show on for all Sun City Hilton Head residents and their friends.

 

Starting in June I worked with our partners at All About Art making the decision to change the DV dates from the February time frame and put on a Full Sized version of DV hopefully at a time that will be less effected by Covid-19 concerns late in 2021.  The Steering Committee and DV Planning Team will have to meet Community requirements regarding distancing, controlling the number of show attendees and other personal safety requirements for an event that has historically attracted between 1,000 and 2,000 attendees.  Our goal was to preserve the flavor and nature of the Double Vision experience in past years.  Lifestyles has committed to help us increase the amount of space we have used in previous shows so that we can “spread out”.  More about this will be coming out later.

 

Regarding of the Steering Committee and DV Planning Team, we immediately need at least 1 volunteer to join me as the Photography Club representatives on the Steering Committee replacing Linda Laird who has been our co-chair the last 2 years.  The Steering Committee will hopefully be able to start with a Zoom meeting the end of this month.

 

FYI and consideration, the Steering Committee has historically consisted of 4 or 5 people including the Presidents and 1 or 2 “Co-Chairs” from each club.  The tasks primarily include establishing time-lines for planning and maintaining general rules.  There is a multi-committee Planning Committee to execute the process.  We have 8 years of history so the work of “Steering" is more an editing and reviewing process … we do not have to re-invent the DV process.  The Steering Committee will also participate with the DV Planning Team to establish the details and conducting processes like Pairing Night, Advertising, Sales of works, Take-In, Set-up, Awards, Take-Down and etc.  If you have participated on the Planning Team or entered works in the show the last 2 or 3 years you should already be very familiar with the processes.
