We will have handouts with suggested camera settings to be used as a starting point for your Milky Way shots.

There is no limit on the number of folks going, but please sign up, so we know who to wait for at Lake Somerset.

  • Camera capable of high ISO’S and long exposures

  • Sturdy Tripod

  • Small flashlight for making those adjustments on your camera, a light with a red lens is recommended. One of the secrets to a good image of the Milky Way is total darkness so big bright flashlights will cause your fellow photographers to say bad things about you.

We are going to be in the grass on the bank of the lake and there are going to be some mosquitoes. For personal comfort, please wear:

  • closed toed shoes

  • long pants

  • long-sleeved shirt

  • hat

  • bug spray

You may want to bring water as well. There are no bathroom facilities.
